There are, in the State of Pará, over 300 communities coming from old quilombos scattered through a maze of jungles and rivers that, in the past, been a haven for those who wanted to escape from slavery.
It’s a bit of the stories and culture of this people that the project of “Terra de Negro” (Earth of Black), developed by the Arts Institute of Pará and the program “Raizes”, sought to document and disseminate through audiovisual and catalogs. The test “Refuge” originates in this project. It’s a snip, a unique look at these traits, habits and feelings.
